AKHTER BOWL RULES

The date of the Akhter Bowl is released a few months prior to the actual tournament. Our website and IG page (@akhterbowlfootball) is the best way to make sure you stay in the know.

The next Akhter Bowl tournament is Saturday, August 16th 2025.

The location of the Akhter Bowl changes based on field availability and City permitting by-laws - the best way to stay informed is via the website or our Instagram/Facebook account (@akhterbowlfootball).

The Akhter Bowl will be hosted this year at Sunnybrook Park Sports Fields, in Toronto. There is lots of free parking & public washrooms near the field.

The cost per team is $585 CAD. A standard roster consists of 9 players per team. Teams that wish to play with more than 9 players are eligible to add players onto their roster as long as they pay the additional player registration cost which is $25 CAD - which covers the cost of insurance & jerseys for that player.

All players receive a team tshirt, snacks and water. In addition, The Akhter Bowl includes free in-game photography and the ability to win medals and trophies as well as additional prizes from our sponsors.

The Akhter Bowl is a safe and gender-neutral tournament. Whatever your gender, as long as you love football and bring a positive attitude - there's a spot for you.

Within both our Men's & Women's Divisions there is the ability to play in the Tier 1 or the Tier 2 divisions. We also are launching a COED Division this year.

If you're unsure of where you should play, we'd be happy to make a recommendation!

The Akhter Bowl is a 5v5 tournament.

The standard team roster limit is 9 players - however each team has the ability to add additional players, so as long as the additional player fee has been covered.

Everyone is welcome!

We try our best to match Free Agents with teams that could use their skillset. That said, the easiest way to ensure you have the most fun is to bring your friends and register as a team!

All you have to bring are the bare necessities you need to perform at your peak (cleats, gloves etc). The Akhter Bowl will provide all the footballs, flags, field and end zone markers.

We do recommend bringing out a Canopy Tent, lawnchairs or a hat to have some shade from the Sun during your team's breaks but this completely optional.

Look, we get it - waiting to play sucks. That's why The Akhter Bowl maximizes tournament time to squeeze the maximum amount of games into the day.

Round Robin games are 25 mins long, Playoff games are 30 mins.

Each team is guaranteed AT LEAST four (4) games.

The Akhter Bowl is an Outdoor tournament.

The answer is YES to both questions.

As a community event, The Akhter Bowl always has some local food sponsors as well as restaurants that provide discount prices for Akhter Bowl players for food. Each team will have multiple breaks between games in which they can go for lunch.

This is a tough question to answer because the Akhter Bowl is consistently growing meaning that there are always new players and new teams entering AKA that the competition level is constantly changing.

The Akhter Bowl has a collection of players ranging from weekend warriors, ex-highschool football team players to ex-CIS players play within it.

That said, the tournament is designed to cater to players of all skill level and our Admin team tries to match players/teams of similar skillsets against themselves to ensure that games are always competitive yet enjoyable.

Yes, we offer a Tier 1 and a Tier 2 Division within the Mens Conference. We have one division within the Womens Conference.
